Jason has over 25 yrs geotechnical experience from research and consultancy though to specialist subcontracting works. He has experience in piling, shoring, and basement construction as well as highways and infrastructure. However his love and specialism has been the use of soil improvement, from a technical, environmental and commercial perspective he finds it much more enjoyable than digging holes and filling them with concrete or steel! He has worked for the Transport Research Laboratory (TRRL), Roughton International, Roger Bullivant, Soletanche Bachy, Menard and is now the worldwide director for Soil Improvement with Bauer.

A quick introduction to some soil improvement techniques, and how they maybe selected and verified for bearing capacity, settlement and liquefaction mitigation. Particular techniques covered will be stone columns, vibrocompaction, dynamic compaction and replacement.
